All work is performed personally by a conservator with over 30 years of professional experience.

What is the difference between restoration and refinishing?

Refinishing typically strips the original surface and applies a new one — which can destroy the historic value of an antique. Restoration preserves as much original material as possible: finishes are cleaned, consolidated and revived rather than replaced. At RESTORIUM, intervention is limited to what the object genuinely requires.

How much does antique furniture restoration cost?

Every piece is different, so pricing is based on an individual evaluation of the object's condition, construction and required treatment. Structural repair, upholstery and finish work are quoted separately, so you only pay for what your piece actually needs. Request an evaluation to receive a detailed estimate before any work begins.

How long does a restoration take?

Depending on the scope, most projects take from two to eight weeks. Full restorations involving structural work, traditional upholstery and finish revival take longer than single treatments. You will receive a realistic timeline with your estimate.

Will restoration reduce the value of my antique?

Properly executed, conservation-minded restoration preserves or increases value. What reduces value is aggressive refinishing, stripping original patina, or replacing original material unnecessarily. RESTORIUM follows conservation principles: retain original material, document the work, keep interventions reversible where feasible.
